Balmoral Lodge Dental Practice Open Evening takes place on Wednesday 27th April.

Everyone is welcome to visit us at the practice between 6.00pm and 8.00pm when our dentists will be available to answer your questions and provide advice of all your dental matters.  We also have refreshments, raffle, free samples and lots more.

Dentist Rebecca Jones will be returning from maternity leave in a few days following the birth of her little boy and Kevins nurse, Steph,  is due to have a baby early next year. So the Balmoral 'family' grows.

Getting it White

2014 has flashed by.  Can you believe it's now only eight weeks until Christmas!

The dentists and staff at Balmoral Lodge Dental Practice have, as always, been keeping up to date with their continuing professional development.  This year Kevin Durrant went to Boston, Massachusetts to hear the renowned dental guru Gordon Christensen speak and Alistair Bunting was in Belgium for an advanced composite restoration course.

Like many professions dentistry is not a nine to five job.  Our dentists Kevin Durrant, Alistair Bunting, Sue Walker and Rebecca Jones put a lot of time and effort into giving their patients the best service possible.  Their dedication means we can offer the latest techniques and lasting treatments with a 'whole health' ideal.

One of the most popular treatments we offer is tooth whitening.  Its such a simple treatment and an easy way to obtain a whiter, brighter smile.  No drills or injections are needed and the majority of the treatment is carried out at home.

Saturday November 9th 2013.

Balmoral Lodge Dental Practice in Ferndown, Dorset staged it's third Practice Open Day with the aim of raising awareness of mouth cancer.  Free mouth cancer checks were offered for those who wanted them, using the Velscope VX (www.velscope.com). We held a raffle with proceeds towards the British Dental Health Foundation Mouth Cancer Awareness campaign with first prize of a hamper full of Christmas goodies.

Dentists Kevin Durrant, Alistair Bunting, Sue Walker and Rebecca Jones were all on hand to offer informal advice on the services we offer in the practice including implants, adult orthodontics (www.rxaligners.com)  and tooth whitening.

Our hygienists whose vital role in oral healthcare cannot be overemphasized were available to give diet and oral health advice . 

We also celebrated our tenth year of offering quality dental care at Queens Road, Ferndown and offered all visitors to our open day coffee and a slice of excellent chocolate cake made by Patisserie Valerie in Bournemouth.

 Visitors were invited to see our new decontamination room in operation.  The room was installed this year to meet new guidelines which require all instrument cleaning to be done outside of the dental surgery.

Balmoral Lodge Open Day worthwhile

Our second annual Open Day was held at Balmoral Lodge Dental Practice in Ferndown on Saturday 10^th November. 

We are pleased to say the event, with the aim of raising awareness of mouth cancer, was a great success.  During the day our new Velscope VX oral cancer detection unit was put to good use, with many people responding to our offer of free mouth cancer checks on the day and throughout the ‘Mouth Cancer Action’ month of November 2012.

With mouth cancer rates on the increase worldwide we felt it was necessary to bring to everyone’s attention the importance of both regular screening by a dentist and also self-awareness of any changes in the mouth.  Screening for mouth cancer has always been part of the routine Dental Health Check for our patients at Balmoral Lodge and the Velscope VX will now become an integral part of this service. 

The Open Day also gave opportunities for visitors to chat informally to our dentists, hygienists and oral health educator.  We held a raffle with funds raised going to the British Dental Health Foundation Mouth Cancer Action and of course we had tea, coffee, biscuits and plenty of free samples.

We are now looking forward to 2013 which will be our 10^th year at Balmoral Lodge.
